Easter 2021 - Alethos Anesti
Jesus is Risen, He is risen indeed! The familiar Paschal Greeting, or Easter Acclamation, is a staple of the Easter holiday. I wanted to celebrate this as well as encapsulate Psalm 67 about the nations singing for joy at the presence of their Creator who guides and cares for them. Risen Indeed, "Alethos Anesti" is an affirmation of one of the most pivotal beliefs the church holds to, that Jesus resurrection is a first-fruit, a precursor, to the later and full resurrection. So much hope that even something as seemingly final as death still doesn't have the last word on life!

Colossians 1:15-20 - Preeminent
Jesus is here described as the Creator and holder of all things, so I wanted to show something that uses a bit of abstraction and creativity to depict this as it is foundational to his significance, or as Paul puts it here, preeminence.

Advent 2020 - Matthew 1:18-23 - Joseph
The angel visits Joseph in a dream to give him the security to proceed with Mary despite her being a virgin with child. Note, the angel is wingless, as they are described in the actual scriptures

Advent 2020 - Luke 2:8-14 - Shepherds
The angel announces the birth of Jesus to the shepherds, who are pretty freaked out, understandably. Interestingly, the scriptures never state that angels have wings, so this one is wingless, and a bit of a warrior looking sort. Now, other beings have wings, such as cherubim and seraphim, but not angels (messengers). Sorry if that wrecks the thing atop your tree this year! :)

Triumphal Entry of Jesus
Jesus enters Jerusalem through the East/Golden gate, depicted here with some accuracy, greeted with palm branches and robes

Prodigal Son
The prodigal son returns home to his father, here depicted as a Phoenician aristocrat

Jesus and Zaccheus Eat a Meal
